About Keep The Horton General

Welcome to Keep the Horton General Campaign

The group, previously known as Banbury Health Emergency, has fought fiercely for the last 20 years to protect and restore full acute services at the Horton General Hospital on behalf of the rapidly-growing population of the Banbury area.

These services include consultant-led maternity which was removed from the Horton in 2016 and replaced by a midwife-led unit.

Fighting for its return is at the heart of our current campaigning work.

What We Do

Keep the Horton General Campaign Group

KTHG committee members meet regularly to discuss our campaign and keep appraised of developments within Oxfordshire and national hospital services.

We represent the interests of the Banburyshire population in conversations and consultations with politicians and decision-makers.

Keep the Horton General Campaign Group

We keep the local public informed of relevant news regarding their hospital and possible threats to services. We do this via our website, email newsletter, Facebook group, in the press and at local events.

We also contribute wherever we can to the Oxfordshire Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny committee (HOSC) – the County Council’s watchful eye on Oxfordshire’s health services.

This summer HOSC is working on an investigation and review into the Horton General Hospital. We hope to play a major part in that work on behalf of residents of the Banburyshire areas.
